We all know that the smoke test is a very important test in LED track lighting. So what does it mainly test? Today we'll learn about the glow wire test and the needle flame test.
1. Glow Wire Test of LED track lighting. This test is based on IEC 60695-2-11 (corresponding to GB/T 5169.11). The purpose of the test is mainly to evaluate the ability of non-metallic components in the lighting fixture to withstand thermal stress when problems occur. The test method involves pressing the tip of a glow wire heated to a specified temperature onto a sample of a specific material for 30 seconds. If the flame on the sample extinguishes within 30 seconds after the glow wire is removed, and does not ignite the paper or charred wood underneath, the sample passes the test. Otherwise, it fails.
2.Needle Flame Test of LED track lighting. The standard for this project is IEC 60695-11-5 (corresponding to GB/T 5169.5). The purpose of the test is to ensure that small flames that may arise inside the equipment due to fault conditions do not spread and cause a fire risk. The test method involves applying a test flame of a specified size to the sample for a period of time. If, after the flame is removed, the burning flame on the sample should self-extinguish within a specified time, and the burning drips should not ignite the silk paper below, then it is considered passed. Otherwise, it is considered failed.
