Isothermal LED aluminum profile extrusion process

2023-10-11

Isothermal LED aluminum profile extrusion process: As the name suggests, the so-called isothermal extrusion is a combination process of temperature and extrusion speed while maintaining a consistent temperature at the outlet.

During the extrusion process of LED aluminum profiles, the temperature of the extruded material is getting higher and higher due to the friction between the ingot and the extrusion barrel and the heat generated by the extrusion deformation. The temperature difference between the front and rear of the aluminum extruded material is large, causing the profile to be organized along the length direction. The performance is uneven. In the middle and late stages of aluminum production, if the extrusion speed is too high, cracks are prone to appear on the surface of the LED aluminum profile. In order to prevent this temperature rise, an isothermal extrusion method is proposed to keep the temperature of the extruded material outlet consistent during the aluminum alloy extrusion process. The isothermal extrusion method is especially suitable for the production of hard aluminum alloys such as 2000, 7000 and some 5000 series with low critical extrusion speeds, as well as some profiles with higher surface requirements (solar frames, polished profiles, etc.).

First of all, to implement isothermal extrusion, the first step is the gradient heating control system of the aluminum rod. The gradient heating of the ingot determines the heating temperature gradient of the ingot based on the temperature difference between the front and rear of the extruded material during the extrusion process. The gradient heating of ingot induction furnace usually divides the heating coil into several zones along the length. The heating power of each zone is different. The heating power of the front end of the ingot is high and the heating power of the rear end is low. Therefore, the temperature of the front end of the ingot is high and the temperature of the rear end is low. For low temperature gradient heating, the temperature gradient is generally 0-15℃/100mm. Gas heating of long ingots usually adopts the gradient cooling method after the heated ingots come out of the furnace, so that the ingots also form a temperature gradient with a high front and a low back in the longitudinal direction.

Secondly, aluminum alloy extrusion deceleration control is to gradually reduce the extrusion speed in the middle and late stages of extrusion to reduce the temperature rise of the extruded material. This kind of deceleration control is usually used to control the extrusion speed of soft alloy materials. The average extrusion speed of this control method is greater than the speed of ordinary constant velocity extrusion.

In addition, zoned heating measures for the extrusion cylinder can also be adopted. The extrusion barrel is also equipped with a cooling channel. A spiral groove is provided on the inside of the outer sleeve (or middle sleeve) of the extrusion barrel close to the aluminum extrusion die. Compressed air is passed through the middle and late stages of extrusion to take away the friction heat between the ingot and the extrusion barrel. , thereby controlling the temperature rise of the ingot.
