Acrylic Tube

Compared to PC diffusers commonly used in LED lighting, acrylic tubes have their own advantages. Firstly, there's the light transmittance. PC diffusers typically have a transmittance of 85-95%, but acrylic tubes, as lighting diffusers, can achieve 92%-98%, approaching the transmittance of glass. This results in very high brightness, but they are more durable and easier to transport. Therefore, for some special projects where PC diffusers are insufficient and glass is prone to damage during transportation and production, acrylic tubes become the best choice. Secondly, the diffusion characteristics of acrylic tubes result in a small scattering angle, making light easier to focus. Therefore, in terms of lighting design, they have good directional performance, making them suitable for applications requiring high luminous efficiency. Thirdly, there's the appearance of acrylic tubes. Visually, they are very transparent, have a good texture, and appear more glossy than PC. Furthermore, due to the characteristics of the raw material, acrylic tubes have virtually no stringing during extrusion production, which greatly improves the surface finish of PC, almost achieving a mirror-like effect.

Q1. What is the light transmittance of acrylic tubes?

Re: Generally, the light transmittance is 92%–98%, close to that of glass. Most importantly, it allows UVA light to pass through normally.

Q2. How is the weather resistance of acrylic tubes?

Re: For indoor use, regular acrylic tubes are sufficient and generally very stable, lasting 5–10 years without easily yellowing. However, for outdoor use, because regular acrylic tubes are not UV resistant, they will start to yellow after 2–3 years, with the light transmittance decreasing by 0.5%–1% annually. However, some modified acrylic tubes now offer UV resistance and are specifically designed for certain projects, allowing them to last for more than 5 years.
